Our History
With its beginnings in 1860, the Mt. Healthy landmark is Ohio's oldest funeral home. Most funeral homes can be traced back to necessity. As towns grew, someone skilled in carpentry was needed to build caskets.
Founded by Andrew Neidhard in Taylor's Creek, Neidhard Funeral Home began as an outgrowth of his cabinet business. In 1923, Joseph Neidhard and his wife Alma established the present Mt. Healthy location on Hamilton Avenue. As time went on, their children, Joe Jr., Larry and Shirley followed in their parent's footsteps in the business and the community. The family tradition continues with Shirley and her daughter Sue serving as funeral home consultants.
